As the smallest of the bamboo lemurs, the eastern lesser bamboo lemur (Hapalemur griseus griseus) usually

becomes most active at dusk. It is found in the dense bamboo forests of eastern Madagascar feeding on fresh bamboo shoots and leaf bases. It will also occasionally eat green stems, fig leaves and smaller fruits.
